NOTICE~ this is a rant, boy!

First off, apologies for the late post. 

Now, I'd like to start on a positive note and say that I really do love the whole unabridged extent of everything horror related; reading and even writing about them used to be so thrilling.  Anything and everything that can be categorized as 'supernatural, magical, unsolved, horror, gory, terror, or mystical' I find irresistibly intriguing. BUT HMMMMM BOYYYY, these blogs are getting to be such an annoyance! [ sorry to confess Miss:( ]  I love my blog and I love posting about scary stories, paranormal events, and TV shows that I am passionate about........however.......the fact that they're an assignment drains the fun and feel of independence out of the whole experience; just makes me not want to do them [this week especially].  Also, coming up with an original idea that still relates to my blog's theme is more difficult than I originally assumed.  I never imagined how much work and thought goes into a weekly blog much less a daily one [respect for the weekly due date though].  It was tremendously enticing the first couple of weeks but honest to God posting is such a bore.  I hope to regain my enthusiasm back for blog, but at this point the only joy I get from this site is when I get to edit my theme.

Folk Tale of Bloody Mary

Bloody Mary is an iconic being when you think about the paranormal. So many different stories have been spoken about her up bringing and who she really is or was. My friends and I have tried to "summon" Her multiple times before with no prevail but I still believe she was a real person at one point in time. She has always peaked my interest because of how well known she was during my childhood, and the fact that everyone in my middle school were convinced the Bloody Mary mirror trick actually worked.

I've dug up my favorite one of the thousands of folklore on her and decided to summarize it:

She lived deep in the forest in a tiny cottage and sold herbal remedies for a living. Townsmen living nearby believed she was a witch in spite of her gruesome appearance, odd behavior and tendency to stay isolated from other humans.

Then the little girls in the village began to disappear, one by one. No one could find out where they had gone. Grief-stricken families searched the woods, the local buildings, and all the houses and barns, but there was no sign of the missing girls. A few brave souls even went to Bloody Mary's home in the woods to see if the witch had taken the girls, but she denied any knowledge of the disappearances. Still, it was noted that her haggard appearance had changed. She looked younger, more attractive. The neighbors were suspicious, but they could find no proof that the witch had taken their young ones.

Then came the night when the daughter of the miller rose from her bed and walked outside, following an enchanted sound no one else could hear. The miller's wife had a toothache and was sitting up in the kitchen treating the tooth with an herbal remedy when her daughter left the house. She screamed for her husband and followed the girl out of the door. The miller came running in his nightshirt. Together, they tried to restrain the girl, but she kept breaking away from them and heading out of town.

The desperate cries of the miller and his wife woke the neighbors. They came to assist the frantic couple. Suddenly, a sharp-eyed farmer gave a shout and pointed towards a strange light at the edge of the woods. A few townsmen followed him out into the field and saw Bloody Mary standing beside a large oak tree, holding a magic wand that was pointed towards the miller's house. She was glowing with an unearthly light as she set her evil spell upon the miller's daughter.

The townsmen grabbed their guns and their pitchforks and ran toward the witch. When she heard the commotion, Bloody Mary broke off her spell and fled back into the woods. The far-sighted farmer had loaded his gun with silver bullets in case the witch ever came after his daughter. Now he took aim and shot at her. The bullet hit Bloody Mary in the hip and she fell to the ground. The angry townsmen leaped upon her and carried her back into the field, where they built a huge bonfire and burned her at the stake.



As she burned, Bloody Mary screamed a curse at the villagers. If anyone mentioned her name aloud before a mirror, she would send her spirit to revenge herself upon them for her terrible death. When she was dead, the villagers went to the house in the wood and found the unmarked graves of the little girls the evil witch had murdered. She had used their blood to make her young again.

From that day to this, anyone foolish enough to chant Bloody Mary's name three times before a darkened mirror will summon the vengeful spirit of the witch. It is said that she will tear their bodies to pieces and rip their souls from their mutilated bodies. The souls of these unfortunate ones will burn in torment as Bloody Mary once was burned, and they will be trapped forever in the mirror.

The Zodiac Killer

This weekend I was watching a movie that mentioned the notorious Zodiac Killer.  That name peaked my interest because it was brought up a lot during the U.S. president election, as a result of the resemblance Ted Cruz bore to the Zodiac Killer eye witness sketches.  (Just to clarify, Cruz wasn't alive during the killings, so case closed.) I decided to satisfy my curiosity with research on who the killer was and what they did.

Countless articles and conspiracy-theory documentaries later, I found out that:

• The Zodiac Killer was a serial killer who operated in northern California in the late 1960's and early 1970's. 

• The killer's identity remains unknown.

• Killed at least 5 and claimed to have killed 37 people.

• The killer originated the name "Zodiac" in a series of taunting letters sent to the local Bay Area press. These letters included four cryptograms. Of the four cryptograms sent, only one has been definitively solved.

• People have taken it into their own hands to offer propositions as to what the real identity of the killer is and what their motive for murder would have been.

As you'd expect, popular hypotheses arose surrounding the Zodiac Killer.  This documentary video provides a clear explanation to the top three theories. ~video contains vulgar language and content~



I mostly concur with theory #2, that Arthur Leigh Allan was the killer.
Evidence against Arthur Leigh Allan:

• Bloody knife and clothes found in Allan's car after one of the murders had occurred.

• The letters from the Zodiac provides bomb plans and talked about murdering children; Allan owned bomb plans and was arrested for child molesting.

• Allan called himself the Zodiac before the letters were received by the press.

• Fits 1 of the 3 eye witnesses descriptions.

• Allan also wore a Zodiac brand watch that bore the same symbol used by the killer.

• Allan told his friends he was planning to hunt people with a gun.

• Allan told police in an interview that his favorite book was "The Most Dangerous Game" (book about hunting people) which was referenced in the Zodiac letters.

• A cellmate of Allan told police that Allan admitted to one of the Zodiac murders.

• A surviving victim of the murders identified Allan as the Zodiac killer.  

However I find that suspect Best Jr. is eerily similar to the perp sketch:

Couple Captures Video of a Sasquatch in California.

While staying at a cabin in Truckee, California, a couple captured footage of what they believe shows a Sasquatch. According to the couple, the incident occurred in July of 2013.

In the video, a large humanoid figure can be seen pulling branches off of a tree. The creature then begins to walk away and notices the couple, who then flee in terror.

The couple says they were too afraid to upload the footage online or send it to someone.  However, they both decided to submitted their footage to the YouTube channel “The Paranormal Review” after the channel featured a Bigfoot video captured by a man who says he was initially too afraid to show anyone else the footage out of fear of being ridiculed.

Many of those who have expressed skepticism believe the creature was nothing more than a person in a costume.

Personally, I have to agree that this most-likely is just another hoax. However, we never get a clear shot of the creature, so it’s nearly impossible to say for sure just what exactly this figure was.

I’m interested in hearing your thoughts on this footage.  Do you think it shows an actual Sasquatch? Or might this simply be another hoax??

Real Monster Encounters

You've probably heard of the countless stories that have circled the media about monsters people claim they've been visited by or encountered.  There's classics like Big Foot, The Lockness Monster, The Abominable Snow Man (also known as Yeti), and aliens.  I believe aliens are the most popular to claim because there are so many aspects to take into consideration. I myself believe in aliens and that they have visited Earth, and nobody can prove me 100% wrong.  I collected short tales of people's personal paranormal experiences and thought I would share one of my favorite.  SO HERE IT IS:

The Ghost In My Restaurant

I used to work at a restaurant located in a little strip mall across the street from my house. The location was perfect for me, down the street from my school, and across the street from my house.

One night I was closing up, just me and the 2 owners. We started talking about the ghost in the restaurant, I had only witnessed one event you could call paranormal. The dish washer had randomly started itself, it was an old restaurant dishwasher with a button you had to push to make it start.
Well that night we were talking about the ghost, the owners told me stories of how it would lock doors, knock objects on the floor, turn on the dishwasher when no one was in the dish pit (that was a huge one), basically do everything possible to make its presence known. As they're telling me this a jigger (the little shot glasses with one end bigger then the other) goes flying across the restaurant into a wall. This post is just to see if people take the time to read my blogs, or skim through.  I know you do Mrs. B, respect for that :).  Comment hehe if you see this.  I already know people going lie so I'm just here to expose the fakes.  Well my boss totally over reacts, and starts yelling, and screaming, and making a big ruckus. I just end up standing there with my fish out of water look watching all of this. After a few minutes of him yelling the front door slams shut. We had it propped open because it was a hot night (there was NO WIND AT ALL). This has to be the freakiest night of my life.

Top 10 Phobias

There're fears, and then there're phobias.  You know those irrational fears we have of dumb things like heights or clowns (big up Brandon lol).  They can't really hurt us, but, we have created a setting of fear that we subconsciously link to the object or place.  (I just made that up, but it sounds right doesn't it?  I'm no scientist sorry, this is a horror blog you came to the wrong place for facts and statistics.)  Anyhow, statistically speaking, 1 in 100,000 people actually die as a direct cause of a phobia they have.  I myself have a deathly fear of roaches, small spaces, and needles but I have no problem handling snakes, spiders, or big dogs like others might.  But now, back to my point:

Here are the Top Ten (according to Google) Most Common Phobias People Have:

10.  Trypophobia – The fear of holes
Okay this one is just too irrational for my understanding but whatever I'm affraid of roaches I can't really judge.
 

9.  Aerophobia – The fear of flying
I might have a mild case of this.

8.  Mysophobia – The fear of germs
Germs? Plllleeeease! Just wash your hands, you're fine.

7.  Claustrophobia – The fear of small spaces
YESSSSSSSS!  How can you not panic and get terrified in an enclosed tight area??

6.  Astraphobia – The fear of thunder and lightning
Funny, I find thunder and lighting beautiful and sobering.  I adore it.


5.  Cynophobia – The fear of dogs
NOT DOGGIES!  You monster!  They only want love and attention.


4.  Agoraphobia – The fear of open or crowded spaces
This one I can understand also because anxiety and people can be overwhelming.


3.  Acrophobia – The fear of heights
No thanks, I'm on the verge of being "high phobic".  I was born short for a reason.

2.  Ophidiophobia – The fear of snakes
But snakes are so adorable and slithery and squishy, awwwww!

1.  Arachnophobia – The fear of spiders
Sorry spiders, you guys are just creepy, but I respect you so you gotta respect me, just keep your distance and ease up on the cobwebs.

How To Get Away with Murder

I've recently started back watching one of my favorite series on Netflix, called How To Get Away With Murder. It's so interesting and I can't stress enough how much you should watch it. The story reveals a lot of plot twists and secrets that each character is hiding. The show stars Viola Davis as Annalise Keating, a brilliant, cunning, high-profile Philadelphia-based defense attorney and law professor at the fictional Middleton University. She works alongside her loyal assistants, Bonnie Winterbottom and Frank Delfino; and five students she has chosen, Wes Gibbins, Connor Walsh, Michaela Pratt, Asher Millstone, and Laurel Castillo, to help her win cases. After murdering Annalise's husband for good reasons, the five students are on a suspense filled adventure to try and cover up the crime they commited. Oddly enough, Annalise guides and protects them so they won't get caught. I'm trying my best not to reveal too much in case you plan on getting into the series, but I think you get the idea. To sum everything up, if you're into thrills, secrecy, conspiracies, murders, love triangles, passion, and tension filled drama, I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS SHOW FOR YOU!
